I tried to do a different shot first, called ‘classic ballet pose‘, because a) I am superstitious about opening umbrellas inside, and b) it didn’t involve heels*, which had been chewing at my feet all day – to the point that I ended up getting a piggyback back to the car tonight because I couldn’t walk anymore. This is how the whole damsels in distress trope began.
But my childhood of ballet lessons didn’t come to the party and so I opened the umbrella. If you’d like to offset my impending bad luck, you may do so here: www.everydayhero.com.au/mellygoround. Many, many thanks to Declan for doing so, and for pimping me to Twitter.
A short reminder why: one Australian woman dies of ovarian cancer every 10 hours. With most diagnosed in the late stage, early detection is the key to changing the statistics. Money raised during Frocktober goes to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation to help fund research into an early detection test.
*I did actually do this shot with thin black heels, much closer to those in the shot, but the pose wasn’t as close so now you get these clunkers.
